Academic Calendar

2023/2024

The academic year is divided into two semesters, fall and spring. Each semester contains between 12 and 14 weeks of lectures followed by an examination period of approximately six weeks. If necessary, special examination arrangements can be made for international students; usually, the end of the spring term for international students is 30th June in order to enable them to finish their courses before the summer vacation.

FALL SEMESTER  (mid-September – end of January)

25 September  – 28 September 2023  Intensive course of the Czech language
29 September – 22 December 2023 Classes (12 weeks) at the Theatre Faculty
23 December 2023 – 2 January 2024 Christmas holidays
17 January – 24 January 2024  Examination period & realization of the final projects at the Theatre Faculty

 

Bank holidays in the  FALL TERM

28 September – Czech Statehood Day

28 October – Czech Independence Day

17 November – Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day

24 December – Christmas Eve

25 December – Christmas Day

26 December – St. Stephen’s Day (Czech: „The Second Christmas Day“)

1 January – New Year’s Day

 

SPRING SEMESTER  (beginning of February – end of June*)

5 February – 9 February 2024 Intensive course of the Czech language for new coming students
12 February  – 10 May 2024 Classes (14 weeks) at the Theatre Faculty
29 March – 2 April 2024 Easter holidays
16 – 20 April 2024 SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER– an International Festival of Theatre Schools
30 April Application deadline for international students for the next academic year, Theatre Faculty
10 May – 30 June 2024 Examination period (1st part)
1 July – 31 August Summer vacation
