After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• demonstrate deep and systematic knowledge and understanding of history, theory, practice, concepts and methods in the field of theatre and dramatic arts corresponding to the current state of knowledge at the international level;
• showcase deep understanding of relevant research methods, techniques and strategies and their appropriate application in the field of artistic research;
• demonstrate extensive understanding of the broader professional context in which their research takes place, exercising the ability to relate the results of their research to peer-reviewed, published, presented and other public outputs;
• develop and evaluate theories, concepts and methods of the field, as well as to define fields and classify them in the broader field of theatre and dramatic arts;
• work with relevant bibliographic data, use archives and other sources of information;
• approach research in a creative, innovative and original way, demonstrate flexibility and openness, and at the same time recognise relevant boundaries and draw appropriate conclusions on the basis of substantiated sources and methodologically correct pro
• evaluate new knowledge and ideas, design and use advanced artistic and research methods and innovatively contribute to the development of current theory and practice of theatre and dramatic arts in a way that allows for the expansion of knowledge and dev
• manage one’s own major research project based on clearly focused and justified research objective and methodologies and plan large-scale activities of creative nature and obtain resources for their implementation;
• develop and maintain a system of cooperation and working relationships with collaborators, colleagues and partners in cultural and artistic institutions and in the broader communities of research and artistic practice;
• independently solve complex ethical problems related to creative activity or the use of its results;
• clearly and convincingly communicate their own knowledge in the field of theatre and dramatic arts to other members of the professional community at the international level, as well as to the general public;
• operate within the framework of their professional knowledge, skills and competences in at least one foreign language and present the results of their creative activities in that language both in spoken word and text;
• acquire new professional knowledge, skills and competences through their own creative activities as well as to discover new creative possibilities in the field of theatre and dramatic arts and influence the conditions of education of others.

Graduates of the doctoral study programme “Dramatic Arts” are capable not only of independent artistic creation, but also of informed reflections on that creation in the light of the latest knowledge of contemporary theory of theatre. They combine the natural qualification for artistic creation (talent, artistic intuition) with the ability of scientific analysis in the preparation of projects, in the process of their creation and in their evaluation. As follows from the nature of theatrical art, they must be able to work in teams, but they are able to bring their own essential and inspiring stimuli that affect the final form of an artistic artefact (e.g. theatrical production) that is the fruit of the teamwork. Thanks to their ability to reflect on the process of theatrical production and analyse its individual phases, they should be able to become leading members of artistic groups that create theatrical (media, etc.) projects. Based on the individual field specialisations, they can also apply their knowledge and talent outside the field of theatre, e.g. in pedagogical or managerial work. (see employability below). Knowledge of the methodology of scientific work also qualifies them for professional publishing activities, e.g. in professional theatre journals or in separate book monographs. In this way, they participate in the further development of theatrical art.

Pro vzdělávání v doktorském studijním programu je na Divadelní fakultě JAMU vytvořený kreditní systém studia. V rámci kreditního systému jsou ohodnocovány kredity studijní aktivity studenta prostřednictvím absolvovaných předepsaných i volitelných přednášek a seminářů a výsledků jeho vědecké, výzkumné, umělecké a další tvůrčí činnosti zejména na úrovni publikační činnosti, účasti na konferencích, veřejné prezentace uměleckých děl i pedagogických aktivit, které jsou součástí jeho doktorského studia. V každém roce studia součet kreditních hodnot studovaných předmětů představuje 60 kreditů, za celé studium pak 240. Systém kreditů pro jednotlivé předměty je vytvořen tak, aby kredity zohledňovaly úsilí vynaložené k studiu.

Obsah studia zahrnuje vzdělávací, výzkumnou část a také uměleckou, pedagogickou a publikační činnost. Vzdělávací část obsahuje teoretickou průpravu pro vědecko-výzkumnou práci a další tvůrčí činnost. V osobní specializaci jsou potom zahrnuté předměty určené školitelem. Ověřování získaných znalostí, zkušeností a dovedností studenta se uskutečňuje prostřednictvím zkoušek, kolokvií případně zhodnocením seminárních aktivit.

Výzkumná část obsahuje referáty o řešení konkrétního výzkumného úkolu a jejich obhajoby na doktorském semináři. Celkové výsledky výzkumu jsou potom zpracovány do disertační práce, případně také do uznatelných výstupů platných pro RIV, případně RUV.

Pedagogická činnost doktorandů je v rozsahu, který umožní získávat a rozvíjet schopnost prezentovat odborné znalosti, zkušenosti a dovednosti při výuce v a současně nezatížit studenta tak, aby nemohl plnit jiné povinnosti vyplývající z jeho studijního plánu. V průměru jde o 4 vyučovací hodiny za semestr ve 2. a 3. ročníku.

Studium doktorského studijního programu v studijním oboru je koordinováno oborovou radou, která sestavuje rámcový studijní plán, určuje obsah přijímacího pohovoru pro uchazeče, navrhuje školitele, schvaluje témata disertačních prací, hodnotí průběh studia, navrhuje a schvaluje složení komisí pro obhajoby disertačních prací a pro státní doktorskou zkoušku, včetně oponentů disertační práce.

Studium každého studenta je řízeno a koordinován odborným školitelem, který zejména sestavuje se studentem jeho individuální studijní plán, provádí průběžnou kontrolu jeho plnění, provádí konzultace k výzkumu i zpracovávání disertace. Každoročně vyhodnocuje studium studenta.

Ověřování znalostí při obhajobě disertační práce

Účelem obhajoby disertační práce je ověřit, zda student ovládá teoretické znalosti, má praktické zkušenosti a dovednosti vědecké, výzkumné, umělecké a další tvůrčí činnosti se schopností realizovat výsledky ve formě uznatelných výstupů. Dále zda úspěšně řešil konkrétní výzkumný úkol a zpracoval výsledky do disertační práce a zda výsledky obsahují původní vědecké nebo tvůrčí poznatky a zda výsledky obsažené v disertační práci realizoval ve formě uznatelného výstupu - RIV nebo RUV. Obhajoba se má konat před nejméně pětičlennou komisí pro obhajobu disertační práce. Výsledek obhajoby se hodnotí stupněm obhájil – neobhájil.

Ověřování znalostí při státní doktorské zkoušce

Účelem státní doktorské zkoušky je ověřit, zda student získal hluboké teoretické znalosti, praktické zkušenosti a dovednosti v příslušném oboru doktorského studijního programu. Státní doktorská zkouška se má skládat před zkušební komisí, která má nejméně tři členy. Výsledek státní zkoušky se hodnotí stupněm prospěl – neprospěl.
